For
over 50 years, the Fromme Vienna brand has stood for the
highest quality
of handcrafted
Viennese timpani mallets. Steiner superior mallets continues the Viennese tradition, including
Prof. Gerald Fromme's
innovations in the construction, and the Fromme Vienna series by Steiner superiormallets offers an extensive range.
Construction and materials have not changed
since the beginning of the 20th century; thus the "Viennese mallet"
represents the counterpart to the traditional type of German mallet
construction.
Andreas Steiner had the good fortune to learn the craft of mallet-making with Gerald Fromme. He had learned from Richard Hochrainer
of the Vienna Philharmonic, who in turn had studied with Hans Schnellar, who became world-famous for his numerous innovations in instrument-making
at the beginning of the 20th century, and later for his achievements in teaching.
From
1970
until his death in
2017, Gerald Fromme made mainly timpani mallets, as well as drumsticks and mallets for large percussion instruments. From
2013,
Andreas Steiner
assisted him, before establishing a new system for top-quality mallet-making, with the
Fromme Vienna by Steiner superiormallets
brand. These prime mallets are
a stable investment
for an entire career.
