LEATHER/CLOTH MALLET (BF400 series)
In comparison with the leather mallet, this type gives a rather slimmer sound , while retaining almost equal clarity of articulation throughout the dynamic range.
This is achieved by inserting between the layers of leather a layer of thin but very dense felt, which never allows the volume to "explode".
