The Viennese felt mallet has a wooden, cork or hard felt core tightly wrapped in felt and fixed on the stick with a threaded cap. The special feature is that the mallet's degree of hardness can be varied by adjusting the screw. The stick is identical with that of the flannel model.

In comparison with the German felt mallet models, such as the Steiner/Benni Forster series, Viennese felt mallets are generally harder, but can also be used as roll mallets, and have very good articulation with the right degree of hardness
